Owen Valley runners, junior Madi Kay and sophomore Lily Smith, competed at the cross country semi-state at Brown County Saturday, setting new personal records in the process.
'Madi and Lily both did an amazing job Saturday,' OV girls’ cross country coach Corbin Wrightsman said. 'The goal was to set two PRs (personal records) and they did that and then some.'
Kay finished in 109th place overall with a time of 21:15.4, breaking her personal record by 59 seconds. Smith finished 125th with a time of 21:30.9, breaking her personal record by 10 seconds.
'They both had a fantastic year, and I’m glad they ended it on such a high note,' Coach Wrightsman continued. 'This was a great experience for not only them, but also the rest of our team. We had a young team this year, and with what we have returning, I think this can be a big building block for us going into next season.'
